Learning to be grateful and to give — even from scarcity

From several volunteering experiences in Bandung and once in Sumba, I realized that the world isn’t always about us. My time in Sumba, in particular, really pushed me to slow down and embrace a more intentional, slow-living lifestyle. Honestly, it was difficult at first to adjust, but over time I truly enjoyed it — and every moment felt more meaningful. There, I also learned the importance of being content with what I have and understanding the true meaning of giving, even when I don't have much.

Take a pause and look around, it's never about you

I'm not the one who understands the most, the little experiences I've had so far haven't brought up a single thought in my mind that I understand the meaning of the word compassion. Amidst the hustle and bustle of living in this phase, I sometimes forget that simply stopping for a moment, looking around, trying to understand is the first step to start it. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that we're not the main actors, we're not the smartest, and we're not the only ones who are having a hard time.
